My Martial Arts Experience & Private Lessons
I've trained in a variety of martial arts ever since I was 7 years old, starting out like most kids in the 80's, with Karate. As time went on, I learned that this was not the most effective style of fighting, or even a particularly great way to stay in shape. I'd often look at adults Karate classes and see a bunch of middle aged, out of shape, angry men in pyjamas, screaming and shouting at each other, while doing no more than attacking thin air.
As time passed, I'd find myself training in -- and trying out -- many forms of martial arts, and I eventually came to settle on two as my primary focus; Thai boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The appeal of Thai boxing was its simplicity, no fancy moves, just simple, effective and powerful techniques. Hitting the pads was also a grueling workout and the practitioners (myself included) would end up incredibly lean as a result.

Later on I would stumble upon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and develop an addictive love affair with this fantastic martial art. This was so different to Thai boxing in as much as 90% of the focus was about fighting on the ground -- where most real fights end up -- but more than that, the genius behind it was learning to use leverage, timing, momentum, balance and knowledge, to be able to easily defeat a much larger, stronger opponent.
This also provided a very different work out to Thai boxing too, it was much more like resistance training and my body soon became much stronger due to the different approach to training need to succeed in this art.
If I had one wish, it would be that I could of found Brazilian Jiu Jitsu earlier in life, but since I can't turn back time, all I can do is my best to make up for it, by training very nearly every day in it.
Bellow are some of my fondest memories and proudest moments from my fights so far:
